The remnants of traditional Ukrainian musical culture were sought this time in the Pokuttia region of Western Ukraine, among what are considered the "colorful" villages of the Nadvirna district in the Ivano-Frankivsk region. These villages are in reality "black-and-white" for they are called : Chorni Potik (Black Stream), Chorniy Oslavy (Black Oslavy), and Bili Oslavy (White Oslavy).
