Creation of ensembles, similar to those existing among the people, is a promising method of popularization of the folk music art. By means of such secondary groups, which preserve the corresponding performing peculiarities and the colouring of the folk music, the traditional culture acquires the new life.
Students group "Volynyany"of the sub-faculty of music folklore of the Institute of Arts of the Rivne State Humanitarian University belongs to such ensembles.
The repertoire of the ensemble is formed on the basis of the materials, collected by the students and teachers of the sub-faculty in folk expeditions. The greater part of it consists of calendar-ceremonial songs, which make one of the most ancient strata of vocal tradition. The group gave new life to such folk rituals as harvest (crop) gathering, Kupalo, christening, wedding, Easter amusements.
